Snow 2015

I haven't posted in a while because university has been pretty hectic with all my exams and coursework so not much has really been going on.

It did snow for a little bit today and i got really excited! I just love the snow. I thought I would show you the pictures I took of it.
Don't mind my messy windowsill, I didn't want to get out of bed to take the photos.
Look how lovely it is! I wish it had stuck around. It's so peaceful to look at.

Valentines Gift for a Gamer

It's coming up to Valentines day and i was really struggling for something to buy for my partner. He's really into games and always just asks me to just buy him a game. I'm not really much of a gamer myself so I wouldn't even know how to start.

This year I came up with an idea to make a 'gamer hamper' which will include gamer related things rather than an actual game.

I first found these really awesome Controller soaps from an Etsy shop called Nerdy Soap which i know he will love.

I then bought a xbox one controller charger from Game as i know that he needs one of those for his two controllers.

I picked up some gift vouchers for Steam, League of Legends and Game so that he can choose what games that he wanted himself.

Lastly I'm thinking of picking up some energy drinks and some snacks/sweets for him to have when he's playing his games.

I even bought a game themed card from Owl and Brew which has toad on it.

I'm planning on putting it into a cute little basket for him.
It would be really great if you guys had any ideas of other things that could go in with it too, within the theme of gaming.

Granny Square Blanket

I haven't been crocheting too long but I really liked the idea of making a granny square blanket with solid colours and black edging. It will also help me to use up most of my yarn stash too!
I am aiming to crochet at least one square a day so that it won't take me forever to finish, these are what i have so far. I've just been picking colours at random so that i'll have a nice selection of different colours rather than a specific colour chart.
The only problem with using yarn from my stash is they're all so different so some of the squares are different sizes to others, I thought this would be a problem but I thought that I could always try and block them once i'm all done. If that doesn't work then i guess the different sizes will add character.
I'm really liking this project as they're small squares so I won't get bored and it will look really great once it's finished.

Lumpy Space Princess Skirt - Review

I found a really awesome site that sells Japanese clothes for less than £20!
Here's the site cute japanese fashion

I ordered the Lumpy Space princess dress, on Wednesday, because I love everything Adventure Time related. It cost £11.99 which I thought was a very reasonable price. The sizing was quite strange at it was 6-8 or 8-12. I went with the 8-12, I thought that it might be a little too big, luckily it was a perfect fit.
It was shipped yesterday morning and I received it today!

The skirt is good quality and very stretchy material. I was a little disappointed with the colour of the skirt as it is a lot more pink than the purple that LSP actually is, overall I love it though

I found that the length of the skirt was perfect but is still quite short. I think it looks really nice with a plain black top so you just focus on the skirt.
I would definitely recommend this skirt for any Adventure Time fan. There are also some really amazing Kawaii clothes on their website too, there would be something for everyone!
With my skirt I also received their cute business card that has a discount code on it! I also got two cute pieces of paper with cute little characters on them.

Knitted With Love Tags

I have a small Etsy shop called Rachel's Woolies where I sell my hand knitted things.
For Christmas my sister bought me the cutest stamp that said 'Knitted With Love' on it. I thought it was really lovely and a perfect way to make to tags for my items unique.

I ordered a batch of brown tags off amazon to use for the stamp. They arrived today so I finally got to test it out!

I really love how they look. It's really simple but super cute.

Crochet Blanket

For years my sister has been bugging me about making her a blanket, so this year I decided to crochet her a blanket, I'm pretty new to crochet and have just about mastered crochet.
She has not long moved house and wanted a nice blanket for her little book nook that she's been making.
She wanted it in a green colour so i picket up a really nice green and some white to break up the colour a bit.

I'm super happy with how it came out considering it was my first finished crochet blanket, I think the green and white really complement each other.

I made a large white border around the edge to finish it off and give it a nice border. I made it large enough to be able to wrap around.
I think that i will be making more crochet blankets from now on!

Grey Knitted Baby Blanket

Lots of people in my family have fallen pregnant, this means that I've had to become really busy with all my knitting!

I made a light grey blanket for my cousin who is expecting a little boy, It has a moss stitch edging and knit and purl squares to produce a basket weave type look.

I really like how the squares came out. I love that because of the sided of the squares slightly overlapping the blanket is really squishy and soft.

I think that the moss stitch edging really complements the whole thing, I might be a bit bias though as moss stitch is my favorite!

I made it a little larger than most baby blankets so that when the baby gets a bit older they will still be able to use it.

If you are interested in purchasing one of these i do have a Etsy store: Rachel's Woolies

HeadCase Review - Samsung Galaxy s3

On Monday I purchased a new phone case from goheadcase, I would like to thank Lifeinthekawaiilane for blogging about this company because without that I would never have found them!

I was so hard to choose just one, all of the designs were super cute! In the end I chose a case with a cute little Munckin kitty on it that had the word 'Meeow' above it.

The package arrived today and I was really excited!

This is what it looked like when i took it out of the postage bag, you can see how goo the quality is already and i fell in love with it as soon as i saw it.

This is the phone case actually on my phone, it is really well made. It is a hard case and clipped on to my phone really easily and fits perfectly. The design on the back is exactly how it was pictured on the website.

I would highly recommend the website to anyone who was looking for a really nice case for their phone. They have options for pretty much every phone you could think of too!

Hair Dye

I love having dyed red hair, the only problem is that it's so hard to find the perfect shade of red that i want. I've been dying it red for about two years not and have tried so many different types of dye.

Today i picked up L'oreal Paris Feria in Scarlet Power.

On the box the colour looks very nice red but also quite a dark colour. I thought that it would be a nice change from the bright red that I usually pick. My hair was quite faded at the bottom but still quite bright at the top so i figured it would be a nice cover up.

This was my hair a few days ago, as you can see it's quite faded at the bottom but still has a hint of red.

The L'oreal hair dye was more than enough to colour all of my hair, i even had some left over which was good, some I've used barely cover all my hair.
I had to apply it and leave it on for half an hour, the colour was quite dark when It was applied.

This is what it looked like after it had been dyed.
It is quite a lot darker than i thought it would be, so it'll probably take some getting used to. i would personally recommend this colour if you want a darker shade of red that still stands out.

I Heart Zombies Dress Review

I bought the cutest dress from geeklachic called 'I Heart Zombies Dress' on Sunday night.

I was so surprised at how quickly it was dispatched, considering I bought it at around half 12 in the morning, they still managed to ship it out the next day!

It is black with really cute green and pink zombie unicorns all over it and pink teddies, stars and skulls over it. I liked it as it's very cute and girly but it also has an edge to it.

It came today and it was all rapped up in a really awesome purple package, i thought it was really great that it wasn't in just a generic white packages that most things come in. The purple really stood out.

When i opened the package i was super happy with the dress, It looked exactly as the picture did on the website.
I bought a size extra small as I find that sometimes clothes that are made by Hell Bunny come up quite big. I was a little worried that it might end up being a little too small but it luckily fit perfectly!

Instead of normal straps it has two pieces that you tie round your neck to make it a halterneck, i really liked this design, you get to decide how tight ore lose you want the strap. I has a zip down the size to easily take it off.
I found that it was just the right length without being too short. I paired it with a black cardigan and some tights for the colder weather.

Overall i think that it is a really great dress and it good quality. I paid £26.99 and i believe that is a good price considering how well made and good the fabric is.

Happy 2015!

So it's a new year!

I didn't do anything special last night, I stayed at home with my other half which was pretty nice, we're not really into drinking and parting much. Plus it's super expensive!

I have mixed feelings about new years resolutions because i'm so terrible at keeping them but, this year i'm going to really try! I'm not going to have a massive list of exact things that i want to change or anything or I'll never stick to them all.

I guess mine are:

1. Be more organised mostly with appointments and Uni work (i'm super terrible with this!)
2. Spend more time with friends and family and go out more
3. take better care of yourself, eat healthier and look after my skin (I'm the worst with junk         food and my skin is terrible)

I don't these are that hard to stick to really. Maybe the eating healthier one, I'm a sucker for pizza. I guess writing them down will help me to try and keep on track with them!

Fingers crossed this year will the the first year that i actually stick to my resolutions.
