Snow 2015

I haven't posted in a while because university has been pretty hectic with all my exams and coursework so not much has really been going on.

It did snow for a little bit today and i got really excited! I just love the snow. I thought I would show you the pictures I took of it.
Don't mind my messy windowsill, I didn't want to get out of bed to take the photos.
Look how lovely it is! I wish it had stuck around. It's so peaceful to look at.

Valentines Gift for a Gamer

It's coming up to Valentines day and i was really struggling for something to buy for my partner. He's really into games and always just asks me to just buy him a game. I'm not really much of a gamer myself so I wouldn't even know how to start.

This year I came up with an idea to make a 'gamer hamper' which will include gamer related things rather than an actual game.

I first found these really awesome Controller soaps from an Etsy shop called Nerdy Soap which i know he will love.

I then bought a xbox one controller charger from Game as i know that he needs one of those for his two controllers.

I picked up some gift vouchers for Steam, League of Legends and Game so that he can choose what games that he wanted himself.

Lastly I'm thinking of picking up some energy drinks and some snacks/sweets for him to have when he's playing his games.

I even bought a game themed card from Owl and Brew which has toad on it.

I'm planning on putting it into a cute little basket for him.
It would be really great if you guys had any ideas of other things that could go in with it too, within the theme of gaming.

Granny Square Blanket

I haven't been crocheting too long but I really liked the idea of making a granny square blanket with solid colours and black edging. It will also help me to use up most of my yarn stash too!
I am aiming to crochet at least one square a day so that it won't take me forever to finish, these are what i have so far. I've just been picking colours at random so that i'll have a nice selection of different colours rather than a specific colour chart.
The only problem with using yarn from my stash is they're all so different so some of the squares are different sizes to others, I thought this would be a problem but I thought that I could always try and block them once i'm all done. If that doesn't work then i guess the different sizes will add character.
I'm really liking this project as they're small squares so I won't get bored and it will look really great once it's finished.

Lumpy Space Princess Skirt - Review

I found a really awesome site that sells Japanese clothes for less than £20!
Here's the site cute japanese fashion

I ordered the Lumpy Space princess dress, on Wednesday, because I love everything Adventure Time related. It cost £11.99 which I thought was a very reasonable price. The sizing was quite strange at it was 6-8 or 8-12. I went with the 8-12, I thought that it might be a little too big, luckily it was a perfect fit.
It was shipped yesterday morning and I received it today!

The skirt is good quality and very stretchy material. I was a little disappointed with the colour of the skirt as it is a lot more pink than the purple that LSP actually is, overall I love it though

I found that the length of the skirt was perfect but is still quite short. I think it looks really nice with a plain black top so you just focus on the skirt.
I would definitely recommend this skirt for any Adventure Time fan. There are also some really amazing Kawaii clothes on their website too, there would be something for everyone!
With my skirt I also received their cute business card that has a discount code on it! I also got two cute pieces of paper with cute little characters on them.

Knitted With Love Tags

I have a small Etsy shop called Rachel's Woolies where I sell my hand knitted things.
For Christmas my sister bought me the cutest stamp that said 'Knitted With Love' on it. I thought it was really lovely and a perfect way to make to tags for my items unique.

I ordered a batch of brown tags off amazon to use for the stamp. They arrived today so I finally got to test it out!

I really love how they look. It's really simple but super cute.

Crochet Blanket

For years my sister has been bugging me about making her a blanket, so this year I decided to crochet her a blanket, I'm pretty new to crochet and have just about mastered crochet.
She has not long moved house and wanted a nice blanket for her little book nook that she's been making.
She wanted it in a green colour so i picket up a really nice green and some white to break up the colour a bit.

I'm super happy with how it came out considering it was my first finished crochet blanket, I think the green and white really complement each other.

I made a large white border around the edge to finish it off and give it a nice border. I made it large enough to be able to wrap around.
I think that i will be making more crochet blankets from now on!

Grey Knitted Baby Blanket

Lots of people in my family have fallen pregnant, this means that I've had to become really busy with all my knitting!

I made a light grey blanket for my cousin who is expecting a little boy, It has a moss stitch edging and knit and purl squares to produce a basket weave type look.

I really like how the squares came out. I love that because of the sided of the squares slightly overlapping the blanket is really squishy and soft.

I think that the moss stitch edging really complements the whole thing, I might be a bit bias though as moss stitch is my favorite!

I made it a little larger than most baby blankets so that when the baby gets a bit older they will still be able to use it.

If you are interested in purchasing one of these i do have a Etsy store: Rachel's Woolies
